Futsal at SG Splash is all about fun, fitness and competition.

Our futsal competitions take place every Sunday at SG Splash’s indoor stadium in Leongatha. We welcome players of all ages and abilities to join our Junior and Senior divisions.

If you’re looking to referee, we also offer referee training to ensure you’re well-prepared to officiate a game.

Our futsal competitions are run in partnership with Football Victoria, the governing body for football in Victoria.

What is Futsal?

Futsal is the FIFA-recognised form of small-sided indoor football, played between two teams of five players. It features rolling substitutions and utilises a smaller, harder ball that is less bouncy than a traditional football. It’s also played on a smaller court compared to soccer.

    Rules of Play

Futsal at SG SPLASH will be played using the FIFA Futsal Laws of the Game, except where rules specific to the SG SPLASH apply. In the event of any inconsistency between the FIFA Laws and SG SPLASH Competition Rules, the SPLASH Competition Rules will take precedence over the FIFA Laws.

Here are some Laws of the Game that differentiate Futsal from Football:

    • Keeper throws: The goalkeeper can throw the ball back into play after it goes out.
    • 4-Second Rule: Players have 4 seconds to play the ball after it goes out.
    • Fouls: Accumulated fouls lead to a direct free kick from the second penalty mark after the 5th foul.
    • Substitutions: Unlimited substitutions are allowed, these happen anytime during play.
    • Shin guards: Recommended
